Forty
home cooks travel to Los Angeles and face off against each other with
the goal of earning a place in the Top 20 in Part 1 of the Season 8
premiere. Chef Aarón Sánchez joins the show as a new judge.
Season 08, Eposode 02 – ”Battle for a White Apron (2)”
The remaining chefs compete for a spot in the Top 20. Only nine aprons remain and it will be up to the judges to decide who makes it and who goes home.
Season 08, Eposode 03 – ”America’s Grocery Bag”
In their first mystery box challenge of the season, the Top 20 will have to take 12 of the most popular ingredients found on any American home cook’s shopping list and make the judges a MASTERCHEF-worthy dish. Whoever wins the challenge will have a huge advantage moving forward in the competition.
Season 08, Eposode 04 – ”Feeding the Lifeguards”
The Top 19 cooks compete in the first team challenge of the season, which involves preparing fresh fish on the beach for 101 lifeguards, who cast their votes for their favorite dish.
Season 08, Eposode 05 – ”Shell-Shocked & Scrambled”
The Top 18 face a mystery box challenge that includes cooking some of the finest shellfish in the world. The winner will receive a huge advantage moving forward, leaving the rest of the home cooks to compete in an elimination challenge, during which they must create a Gordon Ramsay classic. Then, it is up to the judges to decide who will leave the kitchen.
Season 08, Eposode 06 – ”Silenced by the Lambs”
Cooks take part in a skills test that requires them to prepare racks of lamb with fine artistry. Those who fail to impress the judges face an elimination challenge that includes recreating Gordon Ramsay’s signature lamb-chop dish.
Season 08, Eposode 07 – ”Breakfast Lunch and Winner”
Cooks head to Beverly Hills and take over the dining-room breakfast service for The Belvedere restaurant at the five-star Peninsula Hotel. After splitting into two teams, the cooks make a variety of dishes for diners and the team that fails the challenge will face a pressure test and cook a perfectly battered fish-and-chips dish.
Season 08, Eposode 08 – ”Whole-y Cow!”
The Top 15 participate in a mystery-box challenge in which they randomly select a different body part of a cow and use it as the main ingredient of a dish. Those who didn’t impress the judges face off in an elimination challenge.
Season 08, Eposode 09 – ”Holy Cannoli”
The kitchen is transformed into a full dining room to welcome purveyors of local ingredients, including butchers, vegetable farmers, beekeepers and herb growers, when the contestants split up for a team challenge using their guests’ products. Later, the losing team must prepare cannoli as part of a pressure test.
Season 08, Eposode 10 – ”The MasterChef Returns”
Reigning champion Shaun O’Neale returns and chooses ingredients from his cookbook to be part of the mystery-box challenge. The winner will receive an advantage moving forward, while the other chefs to battle in a coconut-theme elimination challenge.
Season 08, Eposode 11 – ”Vegas Deluxe & Oyster Shucks”
The Top 12 head to Sin City for a team challenge during which they serve 50 VIPs in entertainment and hospitality at Caesars Palace for its 50th Anniversary party. Each guest tastes both teams’ dishes and then casts a vote for their favorite dish. The team with the most votes wins, sending the losing team back to the kitchen for a pressure test. It is then up to the judges to decide who heads home.
Season 08, Eposode 12 – ”In a Pinch; Gordon’s Game of Chicken”
The Top 11 are given a bag of live crawfish and have to cook them in order to extract the most meat possible. The six weakest cooks go head-to-head in an elimination challenge, during which they make a crawfish dish created by Gordon Ramsay. Then, the Top 10 face a chicken-and-potato team challenge.
Season 08, Eposode 13 – ”Gordon’s Game of Chicken”

Season 08, Eposode 14 – ”The Great Outdoors”
The top nine must create a dish that is reminiscent of their favorite family breakfast, using Nutella as the key ingredient.
Season 08, Eposode 15 – ”The Great Outdoors”
In the second half, the top eight head to Big Bear Lake to cook fresh fish.
